I know what It is.
I expect footloose.
I want carefree.
Life does not cooperate.
My feet are anything but loose
and I am certainly not free of care.
My hapless dreams
are butting up hard
against so-called reality.
I want what is
to stop being so
insistently
in my face.
Closing my eyes does not help.
I still hear It.
I feel It breathing on me.
I smell Its terrible presence.
I taste Its foul essence
at the back of my throat.
Ignore It.
Lie still.
Think about a happy place
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
It’s no use.
The pressure continues
in my stomach’s churning,
all around and in my heart
my brain
behind my eyes.
My teeth are grinding.
My jaw is clenching.
I breathe slowly…
…in…
…out…
…in…
…out…
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
No.
I don’t think I really know
what It is.
Whatever you do, don’t look under the bed.

as they used to say in my mother’s day, take a Bex and have a good lie down. Would that work, Ed, do you think ?

Yes! We used to say, “Take two aspirin and call me in the morning.”

Thank you, John. At least that song has a light-hearted feel to it – one can ‘do the twist’ to it.

Hello Boromax,
Hope you get relief from that stressor. I hear you. Life can feel so heavy sometimes.
Thanks, Gary

Oh, man. Anxiety. I am grateful that we have One Who is near at hand when we are churning and stressing. May His strength and grace sustain and guide you to sweeter waters in good time.
May tonight bring fresh peace!
